What differentiates MEG 21 products from other topical anti-aging products?

MEG 21 products with Supplamine® are the new breakthrough anti-aging topical treatments that were unexpectedly discovered through diabetes research at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. MEG 21 works against the hidden threat to skin — glycation. Clinical tests demonstrate that Supplamine®, a patented composite of compounds which include materials proven to inhibit the toxic effects of 3DG (3-deoxyglucosone-generated via glycation) reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increases moisture and skin glow and improves overall skin texture, firmness and smoothness — with noticeable results in just four weeks! !

What is glycation?

Glycation occurs when sugars — not just refined sugar, but anything that turns into glucose in your body — are eaten and the glucose hits your bloodstream. These sugars latch on to proteins and through this "binding" or "cross-linking" mechanism between sugar and protein, your skin ultimately becomes stiff and brittle. Much of this results from large molecules generated from the glycation process which are called Advanced Glycation End products, appropriately abbreviated as AGEs.

The more sugar you eat, the more AGEs you produce. As they multiply, these molecules wreak havoc with adjacent proteins including collagen and elastin which keep our skin firm and elastic.

The result is sagging, wrinkled skin.

Obviously, limiting sugar in your diet is a way to fight glycation but we are not just talking about candy and cookies... Many foods, particularly the processed kinds, contain high fructose corn syrup, including ketchup, sodas, salad dressing, pasta sauces and cereal. Even natural foods like orange juice and pasta will cause glycation.

MEG 21 with Supplamine® allows you to fight against the glycation process to reduce AGEs, oxidative stress, inflammation and free radicals and return your skin to its natural beauty.

What is 3DG and why should I be concerned about it?

3DG (3-deoxyglucosone) is a naturally occurring highly reactive toxic compound in our body and is increasingly being recognized as one of the key factors of aging. 3DG is produced during glycation. It has been associated with diabetic complications of the kidney and eyes resulting from glycation and oxidative stress. While testing compounds that might reduce these complications in diabetics, scientists from Philadelphia's Fox Chase Cancer Center unexpectedly noticed that a test compound had favorable effects on the texture and elasticity of skin. Additional research demonstrated that 3DG level in skin increases with age. Excessive levels of 3DG in the cells decreases collagen synthesis, contributes to glycation and results in AGEs and free radicals. Supplamine® is the only proven ingredient to hinder 3DG from causing this damage by two mechanisms: inhibiting its production and accelerating its removal

Is MEG 21 for everyone or just diabetics?

While the original research was based on diabetics, the fact is that glycation is not limited to diabetics — it happens in everyone's body and is in skin! MEG 21 is for everyone!

Does MEG 21 work best with a specific skin type?

MEG 21 products with Supplamine® should be recommended to ALL patients concerned about great skin care and that seek to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase moisturization and improve overall skin texture, firmness, smoothness and skin brightness.

MEG 21 products with Supplamine® can be used as a skincare treatment in patients before they show the typical signs of aging. Research shows that there are telltale signs of 3DG in skin as early as 23 years of age. Starting early can lead to aging gracefully.

What are the key ingredients in MEG 21 products?

The key ingredient in MEG 21 products is Supplamine®, a unique patented combination of an amino sugar (N-Methyl-D-Glucamine) and an amino acid (arginine) in a liposomal delivery system. N-Methyl-D-Glucamine, also known as meglumine, is an amino sugar which is chemically related to the naturally occurring sugar, sorbitol. It has been shown to inhibit the enzymatic production of 3DG. Arginine, a naturally occurring amino acid and a building block of skin proteins, has been shown to chelate with 3DG and therefore inactivate it. The liposomes encase the meglumine hydrochloride and arginine hydrochloride to protect and enhance the delivery of the ingredients into the skin. The liposomes contain lecithin extracted from natural soy beans and are similar to those in the skin.

What is meglumine?

A sugar amine closely related to sorbitol, a naturally occurring 6 carbon sugar.

Can be chemically described as an organic base or amine or a polyhydroxy organic amine, or a deoxyaminosugaramine

Commonly used as an excipient in oral and IV pharmaceutical preparations as an organic base to form salts and adducts with active drugs to enhance their water solubility. It is also used to stabilize proteins in solution.

Discovered while doing diabetes research and found to inhibit the damaging inflammatory and oxidative properties of excess sugar resulting in glycation and oxidative stress.

What is arginine?

Arginine is a naturally occurring amino acid and is a building block of skin proteins such as collagen and elastin.

What is a liposome?

A liposome is a microscopic sphere consisting of lipid layers used to convey materials to target cells. Our liposomes encase the meglumine and arginine so that each can be carried into the skin. Our liposomes are extracted from natural soy beans, which contain lecithin that are like those found in skin.

What is the recommended application for MEG 21 Products?

  • Apply MEG 21 products twice a day.

How long does a pump last? (Face Treatment)

One pump of the jar should give you 0.4 grams so there are 125 applications available in a 50 gram (1.7 oz) jar. Used twice a day it should last for 62 days (more than 8 weeks). Of course, some people like to use more so it all depends on usage and where you apply the product.

How long does a pump last? (Advanced Formula)

One pump of the jar should give you 0.4 grams so there are 125 applications available in a 50 gram (1.7 oz) jar. Used twice a day it should last for 62 days (more than 8 weeks). This, of course, depends on where you are applying Advanced Formula. On the face, the pump will last as long as the Face Treatment. If you also use it on the neck and chest, obviously it will not last as long.

How long does a tube last? (Hand Treatment)

The Hand Treatment comes in a 3.4 oz tube. If you apply MEG 21 Hand Treatment to the top of hands twice a day the tube should last about eight weeks.

Are MEG 21 products safe?

MEG products with Supplamine® have been tested by an independent laboratory on 250 people using a repeat insult patch test (RIPT). There were no instances of skin hypersensitivity or irritation with our products. Of course, some people may be sensitive to some our ingredients and if so, should immediately stop use.

What is the difference among the three products:

MEG 21 Face Treatment

  • MEG 21 Face Treatment is specially formulated for the face, leaves a silky touch and is great under makeup.
  • MEG 21 Face Treatment is infused with soy-based liposomes and will leave the skin soft and supple.
MEG 21 Advanced Formula
  • MEG 21 Advanced Formula is specially formulated for the neck and chest although it is gentle enough for the face.
  • MEG 21 Advanced Formula has a higher amount of the actives with some of the actives not encased in liposomes, and it is enriched with shea butter and green tea extract.
MEG 21 Hand Treatment
  • MEG 21 Hand Treatment formula addresses the delicate skin of the upper hands by using a different liposome to deliver Supplamine rapidly into the skin. The results are superior moisturization, reduction in fine lines and improved skin tone.
  • MEG 21 Hand Treatment is equally soothing for other areas that tend to be dry and rough like elbows.

Who is Dynamis Skin Science?

Dynamis Skin Science is a division of Dynamis Therapeutics, Inc., an early stage pharmaceutical company. Dynamis Therapeutics was founded in 1997 by a team of scientists as a joint venture between Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC) in Philadelphia and a group of investors. It was originally funded by the Ben Franklin Technology Center, the National Institutes of Health as well as venture capital. The company scientists originally focused on the discovery and development of therapeutic pharmaceuticals to treat and prevent diabetic complications resulting from glucose induced glycation and oxidative stress.

While testing compounds that might reduce these complications in diabetes, scientists from Philadelphia's Fox Chase Cancer Center unexpectedly noticed that a test compound had favorable effects on the texture and elasticity of skin. Further research and development resulted in Supplamine® which addresses the effects on skin resulting from glycation and oxidative stress. As a result, Dynamis Skin Science division was established in 2006 to develop and market topical products containing Supplamine® to skincare professionals. The company has received significant additional funding from various investors including Rohto Pharmaceutical Co, Ltd, the Japanese licensee. Rohto is represented in the United States by its subsidiary, the Mentholatum Co, Inc., which manufactures various personal care products including those for lip care, pain relief, acne and eye care.

Dynamis Skin Science has its offices in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania (just north of Philadelphia), and its research laboratories nearby in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A percentage of the sale of the Dynamis Skin Science products is paid to Fox Chase Cancer Center to support continued research.
